Motivation paintings - Mariëlle Küper Human beings are fascinating. In the way they do things, or not. In the way they exploit their body and more specific their face. Their glance, thoughts behind the mask.
The stories told by the lines that carve through their lives and their faces. I am not that interested in telling those stories, but to show the boundries between the image someone wants to project, and the actual inner personality.
The faces become known and dear. Animals have this same quality, this human aspect. Or is it just the projection of us humans?
There are so many beautiful people, so much that deserves to be registered. This is the main drive for Mariëlle to keep painting portraits of dear persons and animals in her surroundings. But even complete strangers, who can be known and cherished in an instant.

Mariëlle does not really believe in the existance of uglyness in this reality, because being ugly many times equals being unique. And to be unique is a quality to Mariëlle. She rather speaks of fascinating.
Mariëlle wants to be a registrator of her reality, making memories into physical evidence.
In the end memories are the only thing they can't touch. They will stay with you for a lifetime and even beyond. You can hate, cherish, despise or hold them dear.
This is what makes the basic human in being that unique, irreplaceable person.
This holding on is not a desperate battle against time, but a celebration of life, positive in the negative.
